The Oxford Guild of Tour Guides

 Oxford Guild Of Tour Guides

… of which I am a proud member, is an organisation that has been operating in the city of Oxford, England, for many years.

Its primary purpose is to provide visitors with high-quality guided tours of the city and its many historic sites. The Guild is made up of a group of experienced and knowledgeable guides who are passionate about sharing the history and culture of Oxford with visitors from around the world.

The Oxford Guild of Tour Guides was established in the 1980s and has since grown to become one of the most respected and well-known tour guide organisations in the country. All members of the Guild are required to undergo a rigorous training program that covers the history, architecture, and culture of Oxford, as well as the best practices for guiding visitors through the city.

The Oxford Guild of Tour Guides is an independent body that is not affiliated with any particular tour company or organization. This means that the guides are free to offer a wide range of tours, tailored to the specific interests and needs of their clients. Whether you are interested in exploring the stunning architecture of Oxford’s historic buildings, learning about the city’s rich literary and academic heritage, or simply taking in the beautiful scenery, the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides has a tour for you.

The Guild members offer a wide range of tours to suit the interests of all types of visitors. Some of the most popular tours include the Oxford City and University Walking Tour in partnership with the Bodleian Library, the Oxford University and Colleges Walking Tour, and the Harry Potter Filming Locations Tour. In addition to these standard tours, the Guild also offers bespoke tours that can be tailored to the specific interests of individual groups or visitors.

One of the key benefits of taking a tour with the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides is the expertise and passion of the guides. Many of the guides are locals who have lived in Oxford for many years and are deeply knowledgeable about the city’s history and culture. They are also passionate about sharing their love of the city with visitors and providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.

Another benefit of taking a tour with the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides is the flexibility of the tours. Visitors can choose from a wide range of tour options, from short walking tours to longer tours that cover more ground. In addition, the Guild is happy to work with visitors to create custom tours that suit their specific interests and preferences.

Overall, the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to explore the rich history and culture of Oxford. With its experienced and knowledgeable guides, wide range of tour options, and commitment to providing an exceptional visitor experience, the Guild is the perfect partner for anyone looking to discover the magic of this beautiful city.

TRAINING FOR TOUR GUIDES

This course is run by the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides every four to five years. The last course ran in 2022/23 so it will be a while before the next course takes place. Details will be posted on their web page when a new course is announced.

There are 3 categories of membership:
