Considering a future at Oxford?

Oxford University Open Days - Jesus College

2024 Oxford University Open Days for undergraduates will be held on 26 and 27 June, and 20 September.

The Oxford University Open Days are your golden ticket!

These events are designed for eager prospective undergraduates like you to explore the university, dive deep into the courses on offer, and truly immerse yourself in student life vibes.

They’re a fantastic way to mingle with tutors and fellow students.

Now, if you’re a planner (like most of us are), you’ll be thrilled to know that the university has got you covered with timetables for events, including those handy college and department schedules.

Oh, and a little heads-up: some of these open days might ask you to register in advance, so keep an eye out!

What can I expect to see and do during Oxford University Open Days?

During an Oxford University Open Day, you can expect to see and do the following:

  • Visit departments: Dive into the departments that pique your interest and discover more about the courses they offer.
  • Meet tutors and students: Engage with tutors and current students, ask your burning questions, and soak in the academic atmosphere.
  • Attend talks and presentations: Tune into enlightening talks and presentations covering a range of topics from admissions and student life to in-depth academic programs.
  • Tour the other sites: Wander around marveling at the facilities, from the expansive libraries and cutting-edge laboratories to cozy student accommodations.
  • Attend college events: Participate in events at the colleges, which might include insightful tours, informative talks, and lively social gatherings.
  • Get advice and guidance: Navigate the application process with ease, gathering tips on crafting a compelling personal statement and acing those interviews.
  • Explore the city: Embrace the charm of Oxford, delving into its rich culture and storied history.

Now, to make the most of your visit, it’s a smart move to plan ahead.

Consider signing up for newsletters and doing a bit of homework before the Open Day.

As the University suggests, try to allocate a whole day for the experience.

With events kicking off as early as 08:00 and wrapping up around 18:00, you’ll want to maximize your time to explore everything Oxford has to offer.

And remember, Oxford doesn’t have a central campus, so wear comfy shoes—you’ll be doing a fair bit of walking between venues!

Can I visit the colleges outside of the Open Days programme?

Yes! You’re in luck! Most of the colleges are open year-round and are always eager to welcome potential students who want to get a feel for Oxford.

Whether you’re strolling through the quads or taking in the serene ambiance of the chapels, there’s plenty to see.

However, a little heads-up: some colleges might have special events or specific visiting hours.

So, to avoid any surprises, it’s a good idea to check out the college’s website or give them a quick call before you head over.

This way, you can make the most of your visit without any hiccups!

And if you’re keen to come during term time, these are the dates:

  • Hilary Term: Sunday 14 January to Saturday 9 March 2024
  • Trinity Term: Sunday 21 April to Saturday 15 June 2024

Here’s more on Oxford University Term Dates, including what the names mean.
