Oxford University Tours Reviews

“Iain is an outstanding guide.”

Great Tour

Iain is an outstanding guide. As an Oxford graduate, he shares historic facts, describes students’ life and how the intricate university functions. And if like us, English is not your first language, his perfect diction and tempo will allow everyone to follow and participate. Eric F

Iain and Oxford go Hand in Hand

This was a bucket list visit by my friend and I accompanied him. Much to my delight, the tour did not disappoint. Iain was a sensational guide and made our group feel quite connected and informed, and he was a delight throughout our morning tour. Our group was small so he had plenty of time for questions and laughs. After we parted, we ran into him again a couple of hours later and it was like seeing an old friend! He truly knows his stuff and delivers it in a truly genuine fashion. We will recommend this tour and Iain to others. LM

Iain really knew his stuff

Tour the next day led by the knowledgeable Iain which lasted approx 1 hr 45 mins. Myself and my wife were in a tour group 7 which was a good size for the tour guide to interact with all and get involvement while on the tour. Iain really knew his stuff as he graduated from Jesus College and relayed this as we went through the tour. The information was very clearly explained but with humour thrown in. The walking tour was completed at a decent pace but with regular stops it did not tire out any of the party. Would throughly recommend this tour and Iain as a tour guide (just don’t mention the C word to him, he prefers to call it the “other place” :-)) Dhermesh P

Great guide makes for a great tour

Iain, our guide couldn’t be more funnier. Kept us all laughing throughout with a lot of impromptu wisecracks. We were not an easy group and asked a lot of questions and he was patient throughout.
Iain kept a good pace throughout. We saw a few colleges and caught a bit of history about the university along the way. Puneet G

Fantastic insightful and entertaining 1,5 h walking tour through Oxford

Started along the ‘Degree Day’ celebrations at the Sheldonian Theatre on to Wadham College, with lots of information about how the college/university system works and entertaining stories ‘behind the scene’, then on to Bodleian Library, Radcliff Camera over to ‘Jesus College’, The Covered Market and Carfax Tower, so lots of sights within a nice walking distance. Many thanks to Iain (with 2 ‘i’) for this great guided tour! 20Ella13

Fantastic Tour, Even More Fantastic Tour Guide! Jul 2023

I went on the City of Oxford Walking Tour with the Radcliffe Camera option. Iain, our tour guide, was so great, he gets three thumbs up on top of this tour getting two thumbs up. The “Rad Cam” library is stunning. Being inside incredibly historic buildings such as that and the Divinity School is just too cool. Iain is quite personable, has a great sense of humor, is very knowledgeable of all the sites we saw and didn’t see, answered all of our questions, kept everything at a perfect pace, and made the tour pure enjoyment. I would go on any tour he leads and highly recommend going on any of the Bodleian Library toursNicki C whose photo of the Divinity School is below.

Fantastic

“Iain was fantastic! Everything you want in a guide. He is naturally funny, very knowledgeable and engaged with the group. He created a very open space that all conversations and questions were welcome. I would recommend that everybody book the University Tour.” Dan T.

Inspirational

“It was such an inspirational visit! Iain, our guide, took us off the beaten path and gave us lots of insights about Oxford colleges history (and few anecdotes too from his own experience as a Oxford student!).” Vittoria Z.

Personal

“The walking tour is really worth doing. Iain our guide attended Jesus College in the 1970s so was able to give us a personal insight to the university, he was very knowledgeable about the history of Oxford University and took time to explain the workings of the uni. We were lucky to be there as the students graduated – so many happy post grads and proud parents especially after the suspension of these events during Covid. Many thanks Iain.” mummybreak.

Highly Recommended

“We had booked the tour with the objective of getting a more in-depth insight to the university in a group of no more than six. It turned out that it was just my wife and I and our guide Iain proved to be the perfect companion and guide. This tour fulfilled our objectives and some. We had access to three colleges, often finding ourselves as the only people, let alone tourists, in the building. Iain was a constant source of information about the history, traditions, current practices and future of Oxford University, as well as a great conversationalist, and we left with a much deeper understanding of the place and its people. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.” andrewc
